Working in retail, it happened more than once that we would, as directed, push our store's credit card on some unsuspecting customer, enticing them with 10% off their purchase, with the promise of no interest and no payments for a full year, and the suggestion that this was essentially a form of lay-away, only to find after their first major purchase that they could not pay back the money owed on the card due to an acute case of death.
It happened mostly with the older customers. We'd get these octogenarians to sign up for a credit account, and they'd do the Christmas shopping on it, and then die a few weeks later.."...to read the rest of Retail Death's post CLICK HERE.
OMFZRQXZ! I hate, hate HATE, forcing people to sign up for credit cards. Making scoiety's debt go up one application at a time. *stab-stab-stabity-stab*

Aren't we, as employees, allowed to refuse to push credit cards on people if we are ethically/morally against usery? They can't force us to go against our beliefs for the sake of some ridiculous generic retail job! Clock in, help customers, ring up sales, do floor sets, put up signage, fine, no problem with any of that! That's just basic job description work. But trick people into credit card debt slavery? No way! They have to right to force us to do that for a wage we can't even live on! Workers unite already! We're losing our rights!
