Hey Fellow Slaves!
Happy Fucking Christmas!
Things have gone from bad to worse at Satan's Toyland - er, the BigBoxStore in Blue. Management has cut hours so bad that I'm looking at the possibility of not being able to pay next months rent or go back to school next semester.
I asked why they keep cutting me (Yeah! 18 hours!) and they said its because I had to shorten my availability for school.
WTF?
Yes, I'm being punished because I had to sit in a classroom instead of busting my ass for them. Boofuckinghoo.
Guess they figured that if I can't afford school, I'll bust my ass for them again.
Especially when they leave me alone to deal with asshole custys from hell.
Seems our custys don't like some corporate policies, so they demand to speak to a manager. When I finally get a manager to come over, what happens?
Oh yeah, they ask ME what our policy is! THANK YOU VERY FUCKING MUCH.
Working in electronics, we sell out of a lot of the popular shit pretty damn fast this time of year. Seems like its a strange concept to the Massholes that the odds of them getting what they want when they finally bother to show up at ten pm are pretty slim.
And who gets the blame?
And don't get me started on the idiots that don't really feel like driving ten minutes, so they call and decide they want to know everything about everything on their list.
Listen, its almost Christmas. If your phone call takes more than 30 seconds to answer, get the fuck off your couch and drive your lazy lard ass to the store!
The sad thing is, working in retail for about 3 years, I've come to expect the dumbass customers.
It's a sad reality.
What really pisses me off is the spineless worms of management who have no clue how the real world works. They have no problem sitting on their fat asses talking and having a grand old time while they throw us to the sharks and take away our hours, expecting us to Sell! Sell! Sell! while we have to sell our stuff to hope to pay rent.
I hope that they enjoy their pretty houses while we hope to stay in one at all.

I hear you. Can't believe they shafted your hours like that!
Our management have been asking for volunteers, thankfully, giving people who need some extra time off to get it momentarily. And for those that have classes, the management is giving them some wiggle room.
Boo to fat ass big cats!!!!

Ouch! I'm really sorry to hear that. I asked for just a few hours in the evening so that I could get back in the workforce. I didn't want to take anyone else's hours away, any I don't think I could really do many more hours anyway. My job doesn't require that much effort, and after the Christmas season, My seasonal space will dwindle down to almost nothing. I think it sucks that your boss won't work with you. You need to go talk to your financial aid office. They can do wonders for you. Having 3 kids (one graduated, one thinking about going back, and one starting in college next year), I know that the financial aid office is there to help you through the rough times. Good luck, and tell your boss to "kiss your ass" under your breath every time you clock out and go home.
As for custys... I HEAR THAT!!! *tears hair out* Our store wasn't even supposed to open before Christmas, so the Christmas inventory we got all came from other stores. Now all the customers are whining and complaining because the stuff they wanted isn't there anymore. WELL, DUH! Its only been 4 weeks and we are picked over like a Thanksgiving turkey! We were lucky we got anything at all. Quit bitching and go across the highway and shop at the "bullseye". You shouldn't have waited so long.

This is why I love my manager! She does all the same stuff we do! She works till, does the coffee, soup+sandwhich unit, drivethru (well, usually assistant manager does drivethru). All that seperate her from us is a better paycheque, a degree, schedule powers, and the ability to fire us =P
I'm pretty lucky I think when it comes to my coworkers. They're all that keeps me from strangling someone over the counter.

I feel for you!
I am going home for the semester today to find out that I work a whopping 15 hours next week. What happened to the Christmas rush? It's like sorry I want to do something better with my life and actually be able to pay my bills for once. Society wants people to go to college, but they sure don't make it easy.
