Sarah left this in comments for Dumbass Customer Encounter x2 and we couldn't resist posting:
I once had a customer write on our signature pad in ink!
When I realized what she was doing I asked her to use the style.
She then licked her finger and proceeded to try and clean up the pad with her saliva.
I was completely grossed out because it's a touch screen and people will have to touch that.
I then scrubbed it with disinfectant but couldn't get the ink off.
That was just gross.
The lady was like 30, she should have known better.

For future reference, alcohol usually gets that off nicely and it kills gross lady cooties too.

Our signature pad is even crazier. It's a touch screen, BUT it isn't used for anything, not even signatures. Our outdated roach motel of a store still makes people sign their names on slips of paper.
And we get people in there all the time who try to sign the screen with the pen we so helpfully provided.

Usually for me, the hand sanitizer stuff works to get it off.
If I miss going for the pen in shock of course and they get the jump on me pre stylus hand over..... HA HA.

Why do you think they cover the card sliders with tape at Best Buys? Best Buy realized most people are too stupid to do anything themselves.

Is that one of J.Lo's costumes from "The Cell?!"

I do not get how people are so dumb to use an actual ink pen when the stylus is ON. THE. MACHINE! Happened to me today, a customer commented on the ink and I told him some people just aren't bright. Anyways, hand sanitizer gets it right off.

Use an alcohol pad from the first aid kit.....that's what I do (yes people 18-100 regularly do that at my store *wonders if there is any intelligence left in the world*)

At my store, our pad says "Do not use pen." on it. BUT I still get asked every so often by idiots, holding the *stylus* "do not use pen?" To which I say back, "Like an ink pen," trying not to hit them upside the head.
