From Freddy:
As usual, it's the service slaves that are put in the middle and forced to deal with dumpass corporate moves. This girl did a great job handling the douchey opinionated custy (I say douchey because even though Dan Cathy makes me want to vomit, is it really fair to do that to her? Film her while she is working and probably trying to support a family?) It looks as though because he filmed her and tried to get a rise out of her by asking questions. Many of the headlines (and this dude's company) are saying that he bullied her? He seems opinionated, yes, and he was fillming her but he didn't call her names or anything offensive. Did he bully her with politeness? He didn't even stay at the window that long. If he had really wanted to be a bully he could have parked it for a good ten minutes and called her every name in Urban Dictionary. But instead he drives away in little over a minute after he tells her she deserves better and she says "have a really nice day" Is this bullying? When I watched the video I was waiting for hatered, anger, and swear words. But this guy just wanted to express is opinion like so many custys do. What do you guys think? Is this a media spin on bullying and IS he a bully? Or Is he just being a passionate custy? I honestly don't know the answer. I can see it both ways. Also, here on RHU how many moments of drive-thru hell have we wittnessed, read about, and seen - funny and otherwise - and to my recollection "bullying" headlines were never attached to any of them.
What say you RHU?

From Huff Po: There has been lots of drama recently about Chick-Fil-A, its president Dan Cathy, and the fast-food chain's documented financial backing of anti-gay Christian organizations.
First, The Jim Henson Company pulled their support. Then, Boston Mayor Tom Menino vowed to block the chicken sandwich maker from setting up shop in his city, and Chicago politicians made similar promises.
Despite these gestures, however, Chick-Fil-A seems to be unmoved, not backing down from its stance no matter the PR costs.
So when customers began showing up for an August 1st event that former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee had earlier hailed as "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day," one man decided to take matters into his own hands and give the company a piece of his mind.
In a video posted to YouTube earlier today, a man named Adam Smith goes to the Chick-Fil-A drive-through, orders water and proceeds to bully the young female employee who serves him.
The video then went viral, and, according to a MarketWire statement, Smith was subsequently fired from his job as the CFO of Vante, Inc., a Tucson, Ariz., based medical device manufacturer.
A PR statement released by the company reads:
The actions of Mr. Smith do not reflect our corporate values in any manner. Vante is an equal opportunity company with a diverse workforce, which holds diverse opinions. We respect the right of our employees and all Americans to hold and express their personal opinions, however, we also expect our company officers to behave in a manner commensurate with their position and in a respectful fashion that conveys these values of civility with others.
WATCH the video above, or read a transcript of the encounter, below:
Smith: "You know why I'm getting my free water, right?"
Worker: "No."
S: "Because Chick-Fil-A is a hateful corporation."
W: "I disagree. We don't treat any of our customers differently.."
S: "I know, but the corporation gives money to hate groups. Hate groups. Just because people want to kiss another guy."
W: "I'm staying neutral on this subject... my personal beliefs don't belong in the workplace."
S: "Yeah I believe that too, I don't believe corporations should be giving money to hateful groups.. I'll take my water"
W: "I'm really uncomfortable that you're videotaping this.."
W: "It's my pleasure to serve you, always."
S: "Oh of course, I'm glad that I can take a little bit of money from Chick-Fil-A, and maybe less money to hate groups."
W: "Well we're always happy to serve all our guests."
S: "I don't know how you live with yourself and work here. I don't understand it. This is a horrible corporation with horrible values. You deserve better."
W: "I hope you have a really nice day, and.."
S: "I will, I just did something really good, I feel purposeful

"Bullying" or not is a matter of semantics.
Regardless of the actual term used, it's safe to say that the guy is a needle-dicked jackass. There's no other way to describe some who thinks he did something good and purposeful by berating someone trying to scrape out a living because of something that she had nothing to do with. Someone who might actually share his opinion. Someone who showed up to work, anticipating an obscenely busy day, and instead gets to be the target of verbal abuse. That's something that any of us can sympathize with.

That guy is obviously an asshole. Feeling really superior and great about himself because he was a dick to a food service worker who has nothing to do with the opinions of the CEO of the company. For all he knows, she's a lesbian herself who is appalled at what Dan Cathy said, and she'd rather not work at Chick-Fil-A but it's better than no job at all. Or maybe she's in full agreement with Cathy. Either way, that was a super dick move.

I don't agree with the CEO of chick-fil-a, but I hate hate HATE bullies even more. You want to know how that woman can work there? IT'S BECAUSE SHE NEEDS TO PAY BILLS, YOU RICH FUCKING BITCH. What a worthless whoreson that guy is!

You know... The single fact that he had her in a position where she couldn't walk away (because hey, she's at work) and is making her uncomfortable about a topic that she can not possibly begin to control makes this bullying to me.
I'm not altogether torn on this issue. I used to like Chik-fil-a but when I found out a while back what their views were (because it's NEVER been questioned), I was proud of them for standing their ground. EVERYONE has a right to their own beliefs. That said,...
There is no huge debate over whether they fired someone for their views. They haven't technically done anything wrong. Just because they decide to back anti-gay groups doesn't mean they are kicking puppies in their free time.
What it does mean (because I have my own rights) is that I do not have to patron them and that is simply all I do. I don't go into their business and order a free item on the menu just so I can harass their employees without having trespassing charges put against me. I don't blast the company or the people that choose to patron that particular store. I am what I choose to do and this? This is bullying. This is harassment and this is simply unnecessary. He has done nothing but make himself look like a complete jack ass.
I don't care what your views are when you violate others' rights.

It was the "how do you live with yourself" comment that really upset me. She's not a guard at a concentration camp, she doesn't fight dogs for money, she works at a fast food restaurant. I'm sure she sleeps very well at night, because she's doing nothing wrong. He had her in an indefensible position, and he was so satisfied with himself. It's not like he expressed his opinions to Dan Cathy, he ranted to someone who has zero input on corporate decisions. He's a jerk, and I'm glad his little stunt came back to bite him in the ass.

I disagree with the way the camera guy went about these tactics. For crying out loud, this poor slave is trying to earn a living so of course she can't discuss her personal politics with customers. Every company has the same policies of not discussing personal beliefs at work and do follow the Equal Opportunity Law of hiring all types of people but you can't expect an employee to go against company policies.
I personally don't care for Chick-Fil-A. Never have. Never will. Their chicken sandwiches were not all that great. Even before the company shared their sentiments on gay marriage. I think the best thing that supporters of gay rights can do is not give them their business. Little things like that hurt the pocketbook. The live demonstrations are not helping and instead are fueling the fire of anti-gay groups. Hopefully there are other options the GLBT groups can do to promote tolerance and acceptance.

The second to last comment makes it bullying and him a douche.

If I were that worker, I would have felt really awkward. I'm there to make money, not preach my beliefs. For all we know, the worker was hiding their sexuality from their workplace because of the whole thing. What the guy did may have not been "aggressive" bullying, but it was still bullying. (This is all my opinion.)
All I have to say is...who are we to stop someone from loving/marrying another person, regardless of race, religion, and sexual orientation? I support them; let them live their life how they want to. I have had two gay friends come out to their parents. Both fathers were considered homophobic. One accepted his son with wide open arms, even went to a group for parents of gays and lesbians. Completely singing a different tone because he loves his son and wants him to be happy. The other father threatened to cut his son out of the family. My friend is now hiding his true feelings, just to please his father because he loves his father. Friend is miserable everyday. Breaks my heart. People spewing hate just makes everyone miserable. You don't have to like what they are doing, but do you really have to talk down to them and call them horrible names?

When I read the headlines I thought it was the poor slave that got fired for being video taped. I'm glad it was the douchy crusty. He's an ass.

It doesn't seem like his act of patriotism did any good to anyone.

He's been getting death threats from God's Gentle People. (Click Here.)
Posted by: Hellbound Alleee | Saturday, August 04, 2012 at 10:31 AM
Well, that's a ridiculous leap by that blog author. The blog links to the interview, which says the following:
"He wanted me to see how Stormfront.org had re-posted his initial video and also added his contact information. As the video went viral, the threats and emails increased.
“My inbox was getting 2-3 emails per minute,” he explained via phone. He added later: “I’m not even at my house, you don’t know that. I can’t live in my house right now. I’m in an undisclosed location right now.”"
Stormfront.org isn't a religious website or organization of any type; it's a white supremacist forum. The actual title is "Stormfront - White Nationalist Community". Feel free to check out the forum, if you ever wondered what happens when you put legitimate cuntplugs behind a keyboard.

Isn't the love of God and Jesus based on principles that have nothing to do with discrimination and hatred??? Or is it just an at services on Sunday type of thing? I do know that when you discriminate against something about a person that is INNATE, you lose, every time. Stop the hatred, fundies. Everyone loses, including you.

The "How do you live with yourself" made me want to punch that guy right in his ignorant face. Sure, he may be on the pro-gay-rights side, but he went about it all wrong. If it had been me, as soon as he started spouting his bullshit I'd have shut the window in his face, turned around and ignored him until he left. After all, he wasn't a paying customer - he made it a point to get a free water. Dumbass, I'm glad he got fired.

My mom does not hate black people at all. She does not consider herself to be a racist. Nor does she hate gays. But she believes Virginia vs. Loving should be repealed. She feels no hatred at all for blacks. She just feels that you should only marry your race. It goes for all races, whites, blacks, Hispanic, etc...Same with gays, she feels they should not be allowed to marry each other. She does not feel any hatred towards, just do not think they should enjoy the same rights that she enjoys.
Posted by: Perky | Saturday, August 04, 2012 at 01:28 PM
Perky - Sounds like your mom is a racist, homophobic jerk.
Posted by: AsgardianMarvel | Saturday, August 04, 2012 at 06:15 PM
I don't agree with what he did at all, but he definitely affected the girl he was talking to. I'm surprised she kept her composure at all.
I am so angry about the chick-fil-a stance and have removed more than a few people from my facebook over it. But what he did was a dick move.
Posted by: gamestoregirl | Saturday, August 04, 2012 at 06:30 PM
While what he did was definitely wrong it should have no affect on his job. Unless he was on the clock they should not be able to fire him for anything he does in his personal life.
Posted by: Skittles | Sunday, August 05, 2012 at 01:54 AM
Perky-If your mom only wants to marry someone of her own race great. She can marry who she wants. Just don't tell me who I can or can't marry. In turn I won't judge her on her belief of what race she wants or doesn't want to marry.
Glad this guy got fired.

@ Hiedi: I think I put my post in the wrong thread. (There is so many Chick-Fil-A threads) I believe it was the thread with the Chick-Fila-A appreciation day thread were there was several posters who say they love gay people, but they just do not support gay marriage, but that does not mean they hate gays. That was what I was posting in response to. I don't see how anyone can say they think it's ok to deny someone a basic civil right, and while they may not feel as if they are hating gays--it doesn't make it right. Just because someone doesn't actively feel hatred, doesn't make their actions right.
Posted by: perky | Sunday, August 05, 2012 at 05:59 AM
That guy is a huge douche, he didn't need to go and be a jerkbag to that girl.
Yeah, Chick Fil A is run by a hateful fuckface, but so are countless other organizations. Just because she works there, doesn't give him the right to be an asshole to her.
Posted by: Burger Bitch | Sunday, August 05, 2012 at 09:59 AM
If this guy wanted to bitch to someone he should have gone to Dan Cathy and said what he wanted to say, not some poor slave who's just trying to get through her day. Plus, who knows how many other people give her shit for working at CFA? Personally, knowing that CFA supports anti-gay groups and contributes to them on a regular business means that I will NEVER again patronize a CFA, in fact I think I can count on my fingers the number of times I've been to a CFA.

What a pretentious loser! He's taking it out on the wrong person, and feels really smug about telling her that she works for a hateful corporation - as if a)she gives a damned what he thinks, or b)has nothing to do with the decisions made by the owners of the company. She's just trying to make a living, for eff's sake! And what makes it really bad is that it appears as if he's one of those trolls who don't REALLY cares about any course, he just enjoys attacking people verbally. If he REALLY cared about gay rights, he'd write letters to the owners, not berate drive-through workers who have no say whatsoever on company policy.
Kudos to the classy woman who didn't fall for the temptation to argue with the stuck-up moron.

I'm sorry, but the sheer arrogance and lack of consideration of this guy is beyond belief. He obviously desires to be famous and to be paid attention to, and he'd probably film himself kicking a puppy if he thought it would make him an internet phenomenon. Also, as a retail employee, I have learned that there are just a lot of sad, sad people in the world, who are petty, and have no problem harrassing anyone who crosses their path who they think do not have the power to fight back. This guy is thinly veiling the fact he is a cowardly bully by the whole chic-Fil-A issue.
