From Huff Po: A man suspected of shoplifting from a Walmart in Lithonia, Georgia is dead after being in a "physical altercation" with store employees, according to a police report obtained by WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News.
The police report said that the alleged shoplifter left the Walmart through the front door with two DVD players at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning. He was detained in the parking lot by two Walmart associates and a security officer.
Police arrived to find the employees on top of the suspect, who was reportedly unresponsive and bleeding from his nose and mouth.
A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was placed in a chokehold by the security officer, reports The Atlanta Journal Constitution. However, the cause of death has not yet been released.
According to a statement from Walmart spokeswoman Dianna Gee, the security officer is no longer working for Walmart, and the two associates involved in the altercation have been suspended without pay.
“This is truly a sad situation," said Gee said in a statement. "We don’t know all of the facts right now. We’re in the process of working with law enforcement to determine all of the facts and cooperating and providing any information we have to assist in the investigation."

This. This is why I absolutely "disengage" from emotion surrounding NATS. I follow my orders to a T. I do what they ask and I DO. NOT chase or touch shoppers, no matter how mad they make me. In fact, I am not mad about it anymore. It is not my money. There are already policies in place for loss-in fact, they already blame most of their losses on us, anyway.
I've let stress at work ruin my health to a point where I am broke. I resolved to become Peter Gibbons from Office Space. It's MY life, not theirs. I. DO. NOT. CARE. what becomes of "----name deleted,---" because I already know that they think the best way to "save the company" (read, increase profits even more than they were last year) is to give their top executives huge raises and bonuses. No, I'm not kidding. They really believe this; it's really a strategy. All the while Mrs. Smith over there with an ailing mother and three kids is only allowed to work 28 hours so she can't get decent health insurance. And talk of "union" is a fireable offense.
So don't talk to me about pride in my company and passion for my work. I have a passion, thank you very much, and it is no fucking McRetail Jerb. My passion doesn't happen 9 to fucking five (or 4 to fucking ten, actually). I WILL not stress out or give a shit about shoplifters. I will kiss ass all around me; hell, I'll kiss NAT ass if I have to. But CARE? You've gotta be kidding me.

I am a terrible human being in that I care more about the employees that got let go than the shoplifter : /

Well he shouldn't have been stealing, now he won't do that anymore. Why didn't they get an award?
