Sometimes we move the clothes down the rack to make space and forget to change the paddle. Or one falls on the floor and gets stuck onto the nearest bar. The fact that 2x is the largest size in normal men's shirts (yes I work at that unnamed store :p) would mean that the next rack holds jeans, supporting the recently moved theory.

Or it could have been a kids moving the paddle/signs.
One afternoon we had a group of teens go down one isle and rearrange all the prices and signs. It such a headache.
