Spritzy

When I worked at tram-K, the ASM said that the people who he admired and respected the most for their hard work and tenacity was the cart pushers, cause he understood how much the job sucked. I know it didn't do much to make the job any easier, but it was a good thing that he valued them for what they did.

unshackled

yet you are told you are the "backbone" of the company and without you there would be nothing, well if you are so damned important why do you get paid minimum wage only get 15 hrs a week?
as a former cart pusher myself (aka "courtesy clerk") i feel your pain my brother. I always make sure to put my cart back, clean, and if i see any loose out in the parking lot i will put them in their corral to make your life jsut a little less unbearable.

ShelterDoll

Sadly, I noticed a lot of stores shove the mentally disabled into that job, possibly because they do not protest. While I have doubts whether it was on purpose, I once had an odd job interview, as I had applied for a general store associate.

Well, I was dumb/naive. I let loose that I have autism (I'm extremely high functioning). After the first interview, there is a second one with another person. I noticed the questions being oddly, wildly different. I asked about the questions, and the interviewer said, "You applied for Cart Corral, right?"

Needless to say, I got an email saying there were "No positions available".

Skittles

Yeah I've never understood why people leave garbage in the carts. I used to do that job but the store I worked at would split the duties between the Courtesy Clerks so it was never more than an hour at a time. I can't imagine how that would be for an entire shift.

Eviscerator

Two of the most difficult and undervalued positions at Hell-Mart were the Unloader and Cart-Pusher. Extreme climates, long hours, hard labor, fanciful deadlines, and paid just barely more than minimum wage.

And when you did get done, you'd be expected to help the overnight stockers. Doing the job other people got paid more to do, as well as an overnight differential.

I feel your pain, but beware, there are deeper levels of Retail Hell before you.

Humor_Me

As the mother of a former cart pusher, I really feel sorry for how they treat workers. She weighs 98lbs dripping wet, and was fortunate enough to get an inside position after she started suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome. Thank heavens for a union.
