Six months ago I got a job and moved from my home state to a neighboring state. Before I moved, the parentals and I knew that I would need a washer and dryer so mum and I went appliance shopping.
Explained what was going on and found out that a sale was only going on at that particular Blows. We asked if the other Blows would honor the sale. Salesman said yes. He also printed out the make and model that we liked and just went above and beyond for us. Thank you to him.
Then I had this wonderful gem today. I have recently been diagnosed with a sensitivity to gluten and dairy. That means no more wheat and dairy for me at all.
Slight problem: family is going out to celebrate a birthday this weekend.
The restaurant has a gluten free menu but I'm not a fan of some of the items plus the menu is tiny. I call the restaurant, explain what's going on and ask if there would be a way for me to order off the main menu. The girl I talked to didn't know and said she'd have to ask.
I told her go ask, got put on hold briefly and was informed that it was possible! I just have to inform the server beforehand. Eh, no problem; my family asks questions anyway (typically about sides). More selections are wonderful. She was very sweet about it through the entire call.
May you all have wonderful and polite custies.

Awesome retail slaves are awesome! (Yes, I know that's redundant :) )
It takes some searching, and it's WAY more expensive, but there are good gluten free foods out there. (You probably know this already, but when you eat out, make sure the kitchen is aware of the danger to you of cross-contamination.)

Both those stories made me smile. Not everyone is a jackass out there, as much as it seems like it...

That's why I called them almost a week ahead of time to make sure that I could be accommodated. I'd hate for my family to be eating and me unable to eat. And I agree, awesome retail slaves are awesome.
