I work in a call centre, we deal with repairs for our clients facilities.
Well, I got one particular call from one crusty which kinda went like this:
"Why haven't you arranged my repair yet?!"
(I had NO idea WHO she was or which of our....25,000 customers she was.)
So I took a VERRYYYYYY deep breath and replied with a smile: "I can certainly look into that for you, can I just take the name and address of the site in question."
After about 5 minutes I get her to give me the detail I need. Well as to why we hadn't arranged her repairs: I looked into it and lo and behold fellow RHU'ers, SHE HADN'T ORDERED ANY REPAIRS. (SHOCK! HORROR! I KNOW!)
So I advised her that the quote we had sent her had not been accepted, and we needed her to submit the order based on the quote.
She said, "Well that's just REDICULOUS!"
I couldn't resist... I had had it up to here *pointing to my eyes* so I took another deep breath and retorted: "Well as MUCH as I can understand your frustration when it comes to having to order something you want... it is kind of necessary for us to know you want to go ahead. If it weren't for having to order what you want, every time you looked at a price of something, you would have it sent to you, and be expected to pay for it. Or maybe you would like a company like, oh Amazon, to deliver their entire warehouse to you?"
The line went silent... aside from the whirring of her meager brain trying to comprehend what I had just said until she said: "Well I still shouldn't have to TELL you what I want!"
My manager took over the call and backed me up.
