Doesn't always work, sadly. Tried something similar when I bought laundry soap that was incompatible with my machine, so I left it in the laundromat of my apartment complex.
Management either confiscated it or threw it out the same day.

This is accurate moving season is prime time for finding free shit.
It's a time when people realize all the shit they have that they don't need or don't care about enough to load into the truck.
I'm moving next week and I already I have a trip to Goodwill to make, and have a couple large items I plan to ask the moving guy to help me take out to the dumpster because there's no room for them in my new place, and that's not even considering things like cleaning products and food items.
