There are stores in my town that check 6 packs when people bring them up because of people doing that.

I like their root beer, it's very tasty; a little pricy though. I think you can also tell with this particular brand by looking at the bottlecaps. The root beer (and orange cream ones) will have the face on the logo saying something silly like "Roll out the barrel" or whatnot. The actual beer one is more like a normal beer bottle cap.

Ah, here we go: http://www.bottlecap.net/cgi-bin/cap.cgi?hweinhard For the differences, sodas are on the bottom.

Sales Agent Guy

It's a good thing I don't work at a store that sells alcohol!

AB. I agree quick examination would show immediate difference. However if you are busy or in droid or zombie mode odds are all you see is six pack with 6 bottles.... scan on to next item. NAT places in cart and you are none the wiser.

Oh yeah, I agree that if you're swamped, it would be really tough. I think looking at the caps would be a lot faster then trying to read the labels, personally.

Hate the NAT for doing this but I have to admire the ingenuity of teens who really want beer.

Lord of the Potatoes

Is it wrong that I wish my underage self had been that clever?

They do the same thing here in WI with Sprechers(bottling company in Milwaukee, makes both beer and some great sodas).
