This one goes along with the topic of bad co workers.
This happened to me on a past Halloween.
We had just hired a new girl for seasonal work. Let's call her T.
Her, me, and the MIT (Manager in Training -basically asst. Manager) A all were scheduled on Halloween.
When I got to the store for my mid shift A tells me she is not feeling well, so she's gonna call T and ask her to come in at 12: instead of 1:30. OK fine. So she calls, and T says she'll be in as soon as she can. T ends up showing up at 1, A was a little upset but whatever right?
Well T also has in tow her little sister who is visiting from boarding school, and she "didn't want to leave her alone."
To which A says, "Oh that's cool I bring my cousins, and they walk around the mall all the time."
Something else is said between T and A, that I don't hear, but then A leaves and the next thing I know Little sis is following T into the store!
Now our policy clearly states that no one but (watch store) employees are allowed behind the counter. So I tell her this, and she says, "Oh but A said it was OK!"
So I'm thinking this was the exchange they had that I didn't hear, and I figure A is the MIT, so if there is some kind of emergency why little sis is there, then there's nothing I can do. But I knew something was fishy.
So the shift goes by and we are busy. I keep trying to get little sis to at least sit on the floor so she doesn't get mistaken for a worker, but she wants to watch T fix things. Eventually,I have to leave leaving T and little sis behind.
Two days later I get a call from my manager asking who was in the store. I tell him the story exactly as I have just told you, Turns out the convo I missed was T explaining about her little sis, and A never did say it was OK. My manager said I was not in the wrong however, because my hunch was right, that since A is the MIT she can make that call, and since I didn't hear the full exchange between T and A, I was not wrong for taking T at her word.
So when T gets called out that night she tries to throw me under the bus saying I hadn't said anything about it when she brought her sister in the store, and why didn't A say anything? Whine whine. She also tried to call my manager out for letting his kids (who are 3 and 6) in the store to which he said something along the lines of, "But they're kids! This was a 16 year old girl!" Either way she was fired on the spot.
It was later found she was stealing from deposits.
Then she had the balls to show up talking to A saying I had "mislead" her and was a liar because the weekend before I had told her she was doing a good job. Well she had seemed to, until she pulled this crap.
I really hate liars.
