Workers at Dylan's Candy Bar in NYC have created a petition to improve conditions. This recently worked for Victoria's Secret employees, so hopefully Dylan will take notice! I love their tag line "Be Sweet To Your Workers!" Let's give them our support RHU! Click below and sign the petition!
This is their mission statement:
Hi! We are the workers of the Dylan’s Candy Bar flagship store in New York City and we are coming together for a fairer workplace, including:
1. A Living Wage
2. Just Hours & Stable Scheduling
3. An End to Favoritism
Information about the petition:
Owned by Dylan Lauren, daughter of famous fashion designer Ralph Lauren, Dylan’s Candy Bar is the largest unique candy store in the world, with $25 million estimated in annual sales. Despite the enormous success of the company, workers at Dylan’s flagship location on the Upper East Side endure sub-par working conditions. Now, workers have decided to come together and take their issues to the public.
They started by delivering a petition to management. They won their first small victory when management began giving more advance notice of schedules. Now, workers seek to win a living wage, stable schedules with guaranteed hours each week, and an end to rampant favoritism that ignores the hard work put in by many employees. When Dylan’s management brushed workers off for raising these basic issues, the workers decided to take the campaign public.
Workers reached out to the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) with the goal of sitting down with the company to negotiate for better working conditions.
