I work in a place that has both a parts and service department. I occasionally help out both.
One of our techs comes back with a part a guy says he bought here and wants us to put it on. We've got a work order made up for him already under his name and everything. Problem is, the kit he wants us to put on is missing parts. He swore that's how he got it, but he took it home and opened It. How am I to know?
I give him the benefit of the doubt and try to pull up his purchase history so I can warranty the part back to the vendor and order a new one. Cant find record of him buying the part.
"Oh yeah I bought it last year."
You bought it last year (before November since this is when we switched systems for purchase history) and just decided now to bring it in and get it put on? After "taking it home and reading the instructions and that's it," you decided to deliberate for 11 months (at least) before bringing it to us to install?
So I let the service advisor tell the guy we can't warranty the part and his only recourse is to buy a whole new one. Pray for us.
