We got a customer complaint because some guy was trying to cash out a $300 Western Union at 8:15 in the morning (we open at 8). The way our Western Union works is, if the funds aren't available we can offer the option of a money order, or replenish from the safe if money is available from pickups and the like. At 8:15 in the morning, we've barely even made five dollars.
So anyway, this guy didn't seem to comprehend that we physically didn't have the money in the store that early, but we'd be glad to give him a money order or he could come back later after we'd made the money. He insisted that we had to have the money, because he used to work at the Hyatt, and they started their registers at $5000. (Even if that was true, we still wouldn't be able to pay out the money because we aren't aren't able to go under what we started te drawer at).
It's just incredibly frustrating to me because there is literally nothing we can do to resolve this complaint because we did nothing wrong. Yet it's still a chargeable offense and we still get in trouble.
I hate retail.
