So, a good thing about my job.
I was worried about driving into work this morning, since most of my province is stuck in a bitchin' ice storm, but I made it! I was actually surprised considering a lot of places in my town actually decided to close today because of the road conditions.
Well, I went on my lunch at 2:00 and went to sit with two of my coworkers. They asked me where I lived, so I told them the road that I live on, which is about 20 minutes out of town, but it took me 35 this morning.
Which is when my coworker said "Didn't -manager- tell you to go home early? They're sending people home early, mostly people who live out of town."
I told her that nobody asked me and that I hadn't seen that manager at all today. My other coworker told me "You should go ask them about it. It's getting bad out there."
I ran into my other (awesome) manager and asked her about it, saying that I didn't mind staying and I didn't want to seem lazy or anything, but if she wanted to send me home half an hour early or something, I'd go.
That's when she went "OH MY GOD, WE FORGOT ABOUT YOU! NO! GO HOME NOW! IT'S SHITTY OUT THERE! YOU STILL GET PAID FOR YOUR WHOLE SHIFT!"
I was honestly surprised. I told her that I didn't want to seem like a lazy butthole by asking to leave early, and that I'd stay if she wanted, but she pretty much told me to get the fuck out and go home.
Basically, my coworkers and most of my managers are amazing.
Anyone out there dealing with a storm like this, STAY SAFE!
