I mentioned previously the DVD rental machine that parents will sometimes leave their children standing in the aisle watching, right? Well, it turns out that despite being large, red, and box-like... It's not actually a RedBox; its a different company.
I only bring this up because we get a lot of people coming in trying to return RedBox DVDs. They get stuck in there and mess up the machine, and we've even gotten people getting upset with us that they cannot return their DVDs on time. What I heard was that copyright infringement would be generally decided on whether or not an idiot in a hurry would be confused... We've had a lot of idiots in hurries. Although that's not really any of my business, just something I find very unusual.
My big problem is this woman who I am very, very certain is consistently ripping off our store every time she comes in, and everyone lets her do it... So what she does is she comes in, grabs a 1.99 sub roll from the deli department, and brings it over to us in pizza. She has us cut it, add garlic/olive oil, and add cheese, then toss it in the oven for her.
Then she insists that it still should only cost 1.99.
I have a massive problem with this. The deli gave her a container of garlic butter to have us hold onto just for her; THATS how often she does this. Garlic butter costs money. Cheese is the most expensive ingredient in our department. Not to mention services rendered.... It's so rude to me that she seriously acts like the extra ingredients and work put into it are not worth anything. I mean let's face it; if services rendered never cost anything, DIY would not exist.
But still, everyone lets her get away with this every single time because she carries on and argues until someone gives in just to shut her up. I'm also pretty sure that someone higher up gave her the idea that she could get away with this because our stores focus pretty heavily on good customer service.
Everyone in my department hates her; and I never really understood why until I realized she was seriously only paying two dollars for what ends up being some pretty damn high quality fresh garlic bread. I wish that my manager or someone else higher up would call her on her shit and set a higher price to hold her to.
Thanks for listening,
