It's English law (scottish is different). Large stores can't open for more than 6 hours on a sunday.
So a 24 hour store could open at 00:01 on monday morning, and not close till midnight on sat, but then have to close for most of sunday.
It's still 24 hours, just not 7 days a week.

Yep, if your shop less than 3,000 square feet of floor space you can stay open though. Guess how much floor space my place has.
Guess who's shift starts at 6am tomorrow?
