How... do you lose a flipflop at a grocery store?

Maybe they lost it someplace else (out the window of a vehicle or somewhere it couldn't be retrieved?) and just thought I'm going inside the grocery store anyway. Employee tells them they can't be in store barefooted, so they have to improvise.

Ever buy those super cheap wal-mart flip-flops? The middle piece pulls out, then it won't stay on your foot, because there's nothing to hold it on. Could totally see this happening
