Rubbish Returns: Piggy Demands Old Dirty Clothes Be Returned at Full Price
From _Pebcak_, Tales From Retail:
I was a keyholder on this fateful morning, and the store manager was actually in the back organizing our shoe stock. As a keyholder I'm able to do 90% of what a manager can, just not open/close the store.
This lady comes in with a huge bag full of clothes for a return just after the holidays. She says that her daughter no longer likes Whiney Boy Band so now the lady has to return all these gifts. She does not have a receipt, she tells me, but all of the items have tags on them. She will be L and I will be M.
I start pulling items of the bag and they are all dirty and worn but still have tags on them. These clothes are nasty. They weren't even a sad attempt to wear, wash, and return. Just...dirty, smelly!
M: I can't return these clothes; they are all worn.
L: They have tags on them so you can return them for store credit.
M: Yes, I could return them for store credit if they were unworn and in good condition, but this...I can't resell these.
L: That's not my problem. Daughter doesn't like Whiney Boy Band anymore so she doesn't need these clothes. Now you're going to give me these items back and store credit.
M: I shrug b/c whatever, it really does not matter in the end. It's one of those things that we can make a judgment call on, and since she wasn't being a total jerk I figured I'd go for it. It is at this point I made a critical error. Okay well let's see how much your total is, then...Proceeds to try to scan items; all of the clothes are Marked Out of Stock. With no receipt I have no way to verify how much she paid for these clothes. Ma'am when did you purchase these items? They aren't even in the system anymore. I have no way to tell how much you bought them for, so-
L: No. The prices are on there. You will give me the prices the tags say!Anger intensifies.
At this point I'm in over my head and I excuse myself for the store manager. Who then, without even looking, just tells me to give the lady $1.00 for each item. I go back out there with a look of defeat and fear, then inform the customer of the store manager's decision.
L: NO. NOT POSSIBLE. I PAID FOR THESE CLOTHES AND I WANT TO GET THE FULL PRICE AND I DON'T CARE WHAT YOUR POLICY IS!!!! I SPEND GOOD MONEY HERE AND YOU WILL HONOUR THIS!
M: I'm sorry, but --
L: YOU ARE NOT SORRY! YOU PROBABLY LIKE WHINEY BOY BAND. (I don't.)THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT. *Proceeds to snatch the contents of bag, starts to leave, then starts throwing clothing items all over the store. YOU ARE TAKING THESE BACK!!
After she emptied her bag, she left and I never saw her again. Store manager never came out to help me the entire time. Thanks for that.
TLDR - Lady flips her stuff when she can't return old, dirty clothes for full price.

Heh, I just noticed half your icon is a cat. :)
Don't understand how people think that a store where you pay for things is a rental... "I don't want this anymore after wearing it for a year and a half so now you give me all my money back".
